Technology giant STARR Computer Inc. will from Tuesday (October 28) be offering free weekly Technology Workshops.
At its Lot 59 Brickdam, Stabroek head office, the company also plans to launch a unique pilot Lenovo Experience Store, as Lenovo, the world largest computer manufacturer, prepares to take over BlackBerry.
According to President of STARR Computer, Michael Mohan, a combination of core engineers from Lenovo, IBM and Motorola plus a large cash flow will definitely resurrect the BlackBerry market opportunities. Already, Lenovo is poised to open a new unit next April to reflect the Internet of Things (IoT), a focus on smart devices.
Underscoring that Lenovo maintains the highest level of technical services to its customers worldwide, Mohan disclosed that STARR Computer has also chosen the highly reliable Lenovo Think Servers to power its new Smart Lab. This guarantees the end users less maintenance and down time.
“For years, Guyana was known as the “BlackBerry” country. And, although BlackBerry lost its leading world market share over the last few years to Apple, before Samsung took over a dominant role in the market, many individuals still held on to their BlackBerry with hopes,” Mohan asserted. “A successful acquisition of BlackBerry by Lenovo will be good news for STARR Computer Inc as well as loyal BlackBerry users in Guyana since STARR is a Channel Partner of Lenovo. Channel partners are not only trained to sell Lenovo products but are periodically trained to provide technical and complete business IT solutions.”
In Guyana, Mohan noted, the STARR Tech Squad is required to undergo annual recertification examinations with Lenovo to maintain its Authorized Service Centre status for Lenovo products sold
Mohan noted that on the world stage, with its current 11,000 Partners, Lenovo recently inherited, via its acquisitions, an additional 3,000 Partners to distribute its full portfolio of products.
“Most importantly, having manufacturing facilities worldwide to serve its regional distribution channels with a full array of engineers and efficient production plants gives Lenovo the leverage to excel at an exponential rate in our region. Lenovo products sold in Guyana are generally manufactured in the US and Mexican facilities with a high level of UL and FCC compliant standards.”
