Randy Katwaroo who allegedly murdered 51-year-old,Rudolph Persaud, and wounded 21-year-old,Roy Williams, almost a month ago, at Hog Island, Essequibo River, will appear before magistrate Sunil Scarce today at the Anna Regina Magistrates’ Court to answer to the charge of murder.
Early August, Katwaroo was charged with killing Persaud and shooting Williams multiple times to his chest. Both men were imbibing alcohol on the Island.
In an earlier statement to the police, Katwaroo told police that he heard gunshots which suggested that bandits had stormed the Island in an attempt to stage a robbery. His initial version of the story was however refuted by the police upon arrival on the Island. Police later reported that Katwaroo shot and killed Rudolph Persaud and injured Roy Williams, a labourer who worked with Katwaroo’s mother, Raywattie Katwaroo.
Mrs. Katwaroo operates a boat service from Parika to Buck-Hall.
