Overseas-based Guyanese continues to assist countrymen

Overseas based Guyanese cyclist and former member of the Flying Ace Cycling Club (FACC) of New Amsterdam, Franco Crawford, who is back home on holiday, continues to remember his former club in his continued benevolence drive.
Crawford, who has been coming home on a regular basis, always remembers his former club as he doles out numerous gifts and other forms of assistance to the members and others in the community. He recently presented a set of boxing gear to the Pocket Rocket Boxing Gym.
Crawford, who is now a community activist and is also spreading the word of GOD, does not only assist cycling, but gives to other sports and community activities as well.
The latest to benefit from his helping hand were FACC cyclists Ray Millington and Steffon Reece. Crawford who is based in London, England presented shoes, T-Shirts and other cycling apparels to the two young and upcoming cyclists to help them in their quest to become top class riders.
Millington, who was one of the top riders for the FACC, has been having an in an out season due to him not having proper riding gear. He has since recommenced serious training and has been improving with every race.
The young Reece has started peddling a few months now and looks to have good potential.
According to Crawford, the two young athletes seem to have good potential and he want to give them a change to make full use of their ability.
He stated, “I would not like these young men to give up on the sport due to the lack of equipment. You have the potential to be good riders in the future. As you progress and become more competitive, I would be willing to assist you more,” he noted, reminding of his time when things were not so nice.
The cyclists were loud in praise and express heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Crawford for the gifts and promised to try their best to make all proud.
Founder and Coach of the FACC, Randolph Roberts who was instrumental in the donation becoming a reality thanked Crawford for being an example to others and for always remembering his club and countrymen. Roberts in expressing appreciation thanked Crawford for always remembering the club, “Thank you Franco for always remembering us. You are an example of what others should be. He used the opportunity to call on other past members, overseas based Guyanese and businessman and more so the Government to take a page out of Crawford’s book and come forward and assist the youths so that they could be kept away from the ills of the society and illicit activities.
