Health Minister’s former assistant dies at GPHC
Even as calls are being made for greater attention to be placed on the issue of mental health, a former health official yesterday reportedly took his own life.
Dead: Kevin Mana
Dead is Kevin Mana who had held key positions within the Ministry of Health.
Reports are that Mana consumed a fatal dose of a poisonous substance and died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation yesterday afternoon.
The man had held the position of Administrator at the Diamond Regional Hospital. He subsequently functioned as Office Manager and Personal Assistant to Minister of Health, Dr. Bheri Ramsaran. The latter positions he held up until about a month ago when he resigned with immediate effect.
While it was not able to solicit comments as to what could have triggered the suicide, this publication has learnt that he was tormented by a number of issues, among them, accusations reportedly levelled by Minister Bheri Ramsaran and other factors that led to his resignation.
