The Linden Technical Institute (LTI) won a thriller against Bishop’s High School 42-40 when the National Schools’ Basketball Festival (NSBF) continued at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall Wednesday night.
Terron Welch poured in 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for LTI while Dennis Niles scored 15 points. For Bishop’s High, Marvin Durant scored 16 points and had five steals.
In the Under-14 competition, Marian Academy won 30-10 against St. Rose’s High School with Jahleel Young scoring 11 points and grabbing a mammoth 25 rebounds. Joshua Brazao offered assistance with six points, nine steals and 10 rebounds. For Rose’s, Anthony Yansen had six points and six rebounds.
Kwakwani Secondary won 25-14 when they played Bishop’s in another Under-14 game with Shaddai Sauers scoring seven points and Asher Grannum four points and 13 rebounds. Bishop’s Michael Williams scored eight points and grabbed six rebounds.
In the Under-16 competition, Kwakwani defeated McKenzie High School 52-47 with Kemmol Benjamin scoring 15 points and Kerrol Phillips a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. McKenzie High’s Daniel Anthony scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
New Amsterdam Multi also had a victory in this category with a 38-27 win against President’s College with Ramone Fogenay scoring 16 points and grabbing 20 rebounds. Tafawa Daly scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to assist Fogenay.
Marian Academy had a 48-37 win against Plaisance Academy with Judah Stephney scoring 17 points and grabbing six rebounds and Dwayne Obermuller eight points and nine rebounds. For Plaisance, Andrew Johnson scored 21 points that included five shots from downtown.
