Five persons are in police custody assisting with information in the wake of two armed robberies which occurred in the space of almost three hours at Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, last Thursday.
Police ranks believed that the robberies were carried out by the same two men and hope that they would be able to determine who the suspects are soon enough.
They are convinced though that the robbers are two of the five persons in police custody and hope that someone will soon “spill the beans.”
According to the police, about 04:15 hrs on Thursday two men armed with a handgun and a knife entered the home of Michelle Boyer and held her up along with two other family members. They took away jewellery, two cell phones, a bicycle and a pair of boots, and then escaped.
Then, about two and a half hours later, two men armed with a handgun and a knife entered the premises of Gracie Ghanie, 31, and held her up while she was outside washing clothes.
The perpetrators took her into the house which they ransacked and took away jewellery, four cell phones, $15,000 and US$25 before making good their escape.
