A man and his son who were implicated in the murder of a farmer in 2011 are on trial in the Berbice

High Court. On trial are Krishna, called ‘John’, 50, a cattle and rice farmer of Alness and of 85 Letter Kenny, Corentyne, and his son Rommel Krishna, 24, a farmer of 69 Alness, Corentyne, Berbice.
They appeared on Thursday before Justice Brassington Reynolds and a mixed jury.
They are accused of murdering Shawn Fraser, who was 38 at the time, some time between July 27 and July 28, 2011 at Hogstye Back dam, Corentyne, Berbice.
Krishna, called ‘John’ is being represented by Attorney at Law Kim Kyte, while Romell Krishna is being represented by Attorney at Law, Mursaline Bacchus.
The prosecutor is Attorney at Law Renita Singh.
After the indictment was read and the jury sworn in the matter was adjourned to Tuesday. Some motions were put forward by the defence in the absence of the jury.
