Guyana’s Heimraj Resaul has made it to the semi-finals of the Antigua Junior Invitational Tennis Championships after remaining unbeaten in the main draw which was completed on Monday on the Island.
Resaul is the only Guyanese not to have conceded a match to date and came out of the main draw as the No.1 seed and favoured to make it to the final.
In other results: Jordan Beaton lost his quarter final match to Justin Marcano (Ant) 5/3 4/2 and according to reports he played very nervous in the first few games.
Marcano is no stranger to Beaton and the two played solidly, but the Guyanese player failed to capitalize on the opportunities presented.
The top ranked junior player of Antigua used his superior experience along with the partisan support to perfection to get past Beaton.
Marcano had recently played in the ITF tournaments in Trinidad and Barbados.
Sarah Klautky, the youngest player at 10 years eventually won her first game of the tournament in the consolation segment when she defeated hometown girl Chernia Morris 4/1, 4/0 and will now play for a place between 8th-13th. She failed to make it to the main draw.
Kalyca Fraser also lost.
