Swiss House Cambio boss murder…Surgeon testifies as PI continues
As the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the death of former Swiss House Cambio Managing Director, Farouk Razac, continued before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, the Prosecution called its 14th witness to testify on behalf of the state.
For a second time, Razac’s wife, Carolan Lynch, is charged with murdering him on May 7, 2007 at their Lot 106 Ireng Place, Bel Air Park, Georgetown residence.

The PI got underway Tuesday last in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and is scheduled to be called again tomorrow.
During yesterday’s proceedings, the Prosecution led by Corporal Bharat Mangru who is attached to the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) called Dr. Sheik Hassan Amir to offer a sworn testimony.
Amir was, in 2007, the Chief Surgeon at the Emergency Unit at Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
He was cross examined by Defence Attorney Peter Hugh. The Prosecution declined to re-examine Amir’s testimony. Hugh and Attorney at Law Latchmie Rahamat are representing Lynch.
From the commencement o the hearing last Tuesday, 13 persons have been called by the State.
Mangru indicated to the court that Corporal Dutt was supposed to offer evidence in the matter during that hearing, but had ventured to the Brickdam Police Station to search for the relevant photographs.
Mangru requested an adjournment date for Superintendent Stephen Greaves to testify. Mangru explained that at the time, Greaves was required to testify in the Bartica Magistrate’s Court.
The Prosecutor explained that he is making efforts to have all witnesses come forth and testify in the matter.
The PI is scheduled to continue today. The Prosecution is expected to report on the photographs and on the progress of the remaining witnesses. She said that after tomorrow’s date, the case will be called again on April 24.
A total of 21 witnesses is expected to testify on behalf of the state.
