Living true to their word of being even more active this year, the Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) of Berbice has organised another road race for cyclists in the Ancient County only. Fresh from the Benjamin classic, the Mashramani Cycle Road race and The Cheddi Jagan memorial race, riders are expected to take to the roads again today when the club stages a 40-Mile event.
It has been sponsored by various persons in the County including Wilbert Benjamin of Benjamin Sports, Guinness Bar, Furniture World, Lloyd Williams, Home Line Furnishing, Steve Ramsuchit and D. Balram Shane.
The race pedals off from in front Marks Bridge at Tacama Turn, 60 Stanleytown, pass through New Amsterdam and proceed to Adventure on the Corentyne before turning back to finish at Main and Alexander Streets, New Amsterdam.
Prizes will be awarded to the first eight finishers, the first two females and the first two beginners. There will also be eight prime point prizes up for grabs.
The females and beginners are expected to ride shorter distances.
The event is expected to be a continuing battle between riders of the FACC and Trojan Cycle clubs and among those expected to take to the road are Elijah Brijadar, Andrea Green, Andrew Hicks, Romallo Crawford, Syborne Fernandes, Jeban Crawford, Wasim Hassnu, Ray Millington, Audrel Ross, Edmond Francis, Keith Griffith, Wilbert Benjamin, Turhan Harris and Gary Benjamin among others.
