Desinco Trading, CAL join forces to aid ailing child
Dealing with an ill child is very difficult for any parent, but no one is prepared to hear that their two-year-old has been diagnosed with a deadly, flesh-eating bacteria.

Life for Sandra Seepersaud, mother of little Shafiyah Mohamed has been nothing short of frustrating. Shafiyah has been diagnosed with Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacterium, which is a strain of staph bacteria that is resistant to the antibiotic normally used to treat such infections. Over the past year, Shafiyah’s family has exhausted all efforts and finance to gain proper treatment for the toddler who has been in and out of various hospitals and undergone countless procedures.
Recently, Seeperaud made a public appeal for financial assistance to aid in purchasing a special foot brace from health officials in Trinidad and Tobago for the child, and money to cover the cost of travelling. Immediately, local distribution giant Desinco Trading and Caribbean Airlines Limited who are both popular nationwide for their strong commitment to the community and countless philantrophic ventures, responded to the plea and pledged their support to help save the little Shafiyah’s life.
Sandra Seepersaud and family are now breathing a sigh of relief since Desinco Trading has contributed the necessary funds to purchase the foot brace and has also covered the cost of accommodation while Caribbean Airlines, which was contacted by DeSinco Trading, has provided the family with three tickets to the twin-island Republic.
The family will stay for an estimated two weeks during which time the child will receive treatment at the Gulf View Medical Centre.
