The winning team will take home a trophy and $200,000, the runner up $75,000 and third place $45,000. Entrance fee is $6,000 with competition set to be run using the two in one out basis at Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt.
President of the Georgetown Dominoes Association Faye Joseph told Kaieteur Sport that teams from Berbice, Linden, Wakenaam, Bartica and Essequibo Coast are expected to battle with their Georgetown counterparts.
This will be followed by the Orin Joseph Memorial tournament which will start in February and the president informed that it will be played nationwide.
Meanwhile, Joseph is of the view that Guyana can go all the way in the WCD tournament. “Guyana won King and Queen in past tournaments, we have some capable players and I am confident that we can be victorious”, she added.
