Jamaica’s Doug ‘Hollywood’ Gore threw down the gauntlet to his Guyanese and other challengers, capturing pole position in the Group 4 contest, setting the stage for an exciting battle in today’s final leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championships (CMRC) at the South Dakota Circuit.

Jamaica’s Doug Gore will be a ‘marked man’ today after capturing Pole in the ‘Big Boys’ race (Group 4) during yesterday’s qualifying.
Gore, piloting one of the fastest cars in the region, an Audi TT, flew to the fastest lap time of 33.5 seconds. However, to win he will have to turn in the performance of his life as the Guyanese pair of Mark Vieira and Kevin Jeffrey were ‘breathing fire’ on his back, with 33.9 and 34.0 seconds respectively.
The experienced Andrew King and the promising Danny Persaud, both representing team Guyana, are also in striking distance behind Vieira and Jeffrey and this group is set to put the South Dakota Circuit on fire and bring fans on their feet.
Action starts at 08:00 hours, and the Guyanese drivers, riders and go-karters will be up against competitors from Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Cayman Islands, United States of America, Canada and Suriname and the large turnout of fans will be entertained.
