A 61-year-old security guard yesterday appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court faced with a noise nuisance charge.
It is alleged that on October 15, at Pike Street, Kitty, Rudolph Mohan sang loudly which led to the annoyance of Fabian Jordan.
To the allegations, Mohan pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutor Bharat Mangru told the court that Jordon and Mohan have been neighbours for some time. The court heard that Jordan urged Mohan to stop but the elderly man continued to sing loudly.
Jordan thereafter made a report to the police and the man was arrested and charged.
Attorney at Law Paul Fung-a-Fat, in his client’s defense told the court that Mohan is a loner who does not own a television or radio set and has taken to singing as a beloved pastime.
The man was placed on self bail and is expected to return to the Chief Magistrate’s courtroom where his trial will commence on November 1.
