National Junior Chess Champion Anthony Drayton is full of confidence and has thrown down the gauntlet on his colleagues as the nation’s best junior Chess players square off to contest for his crown at Olympic House, Kingston tomorrow morning.
His challengers were determined after the qualifying rounds which concluded about one month ago and dominated by Drayton’s predecessor, Haifeng Su, who will be keen to regain the title. The seven other qualifying players that will compete for the crown are Davion Mars, Roberto Neto, Saeed Ali, Sheriffa Ali Omar Britton Grant and Rashad Hussain.
The players will play each other in a single round-robin format of seven rounds and each would be allotted 90 minutes per round. Activities are slated to conclude on Sunday October 27 next. The tournament is sponsored by Sasha Cells and the first pawn will be moved at 14:00hrs sharp.
