NFA strongly condemns this act of aggression

Dear Editor,
The National Front Alliance [NFA] strongly condemns the act of aggression perpetuated by the Navy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela against the sovereign Cooperative Republic of Guyana.
The interception of the research vessel (RV) Teknik Perdana in Guyana’s waters and the act of escorting it into Venezuela’s waters is totally intolerable and could have catastrophic consequences for neighbourly relations.
That this action follows closely on the arrival of armed soldiers of that country’s army into our territory demands that all Guyanese must give voice to their indignation.
The NFA supports the call of the leader of the APNU, Brigadier General David Granger’s call for a permanent borders commission that will effectively address issues such as these.
The National Front Alliance supports and urges a national response to Venezuela’s latest infringement on our territory. Matters of national sovereignty cannot be left to any one political faction or political party.
