Fierce battle anticipated on Sunday; Neil Reece is defending champ
The cream of the nation’s riders are expected to face starters orders on Sunday in the Kadir Mohamed Memorial ‘Ounce of Gold’ Cycle Road Race that will start in the city, proceed to the Linden Soesdyke Highway before returning to the city for the finish.

The late Kadir Mohamed, an avid sports enthusiast, hailed from the community of Bartica and in an effort to keep his memory alive in the sports realm, Kadir’s Enterprise of Bartica is sponsoring this 80-mile event that is organised by the Flying Stars Cycle Club.
Race time on Sunday is 07:30 hours on Homestretch Avenue with the event proceeding to Dora on the Linden Soesdyke Highway (Coca Cola sign) before returning to the starting line for the finish.
Prizes are on offer for the top ten finishers while there will also be additional rewards. This race is anticipated to be keen with the national male and female teams selected for the Caribbean Cycling Championships later this month in Curacao anticipated to be on show as they wind down preparations.
