Lawrence ‘Sparrow’ Griffith was elected to the helm when the Little Diva Flames Football Club held elections of Office Bearers at the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Office, Dadanawa Street, Section K Campbellville, Saturday September 28 last.
Dr George Norton is the Vice President, while the Secretary is Charmaine Wade. The election of a Treasurer is still pending but Carlica Pollydore is the Assistant Secretary/Treasurer. The Committee Members are Monica Ferreira and Sibby Sancho. Top coaches, Joseph ‘Bill’ Wilson and Sheron ‘Sherry’ Abrams have been appointed as the coaches.
The committee has already started working and the young ladies will commence training on Saturday, October 12 at 09:00 hrs. Sessions will continue every Saturday and Thursday thereon. Officials are contemplating the use of the Ministry of Education Ground on Carifesta Avenue.
Administrators are guided by several aims and objectives enshrined in the Constitution to promote, foster and develop in all aspects of the sport among females in Guyana; to assist the mental, moral and physical development of females in all forms of competition; To encourage proper attitudes to the game and to promote the highest traditions of sportsmanship consistent with the Olympic ideal, and to provide quality coaching, education and welfare within all age groups and ability levels. Several other objectives have also been included and will be stringently pursued by the new executives.
Already, the club has benefitted from the largesse of the proprietors of the Sports Plus Sports Store who have donated 10 footballs for club use. Two other corporate entities have committed to the donation of football boots and other training gears.
