Alliance For Change councillor, Bohawanie Persaud, a/k Solomon, was sworn in by Sunil Singh, the Regional Executive Officer, attached to the Region Two Democratic Council, Anna Regina. The swearing in was done at Tuesday’s sitting of the Regional Democratic Council meeting.
Persaud replaces former AFC Councilor, Archie Cordis, who resigned from his post as Regional Councillor and has since taken up another post with businessman Brian Tiwarie. Cordis’ seat remained vacant for months.
Persaud, 63, a professional mechanic, who resides at La Belle Alliance, Essequibo Coast, expressed his profound gratitude for being chosen to replace Cordis as a Regional Democratic Councillor. He said that he would continue to work in the interest of his party to present concerns that affect persons at the forum of the Regional level.
Naith Ram and Persaud were elected to serve as Councillors aligned with the AFC, while Prince Shepherd, Linda Duncan and Wazeer Latiff represent APNU.
Parmanand Persaud, the Region Two Chairman officially welcomed Persaud into the Council. He also detailed some pertinent protocols that should be observed at the Regional level.
