The unpredictable weather pattern has impacted negatively on several outdoor sports activities and administrators are eying the weather before organizing events. Amidst it all, local football organizers are working assiduously to have young footballers ready for the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-15 championships scheduled for the Cayman Islands in August.
Kaieteur Sport spoke with Technical Development Officer (GFF), Lyndon France and he revealed that administrators had earlier instructed all associations to run off their club tournaments so as to allow the selection of a squad/team to represent Guyana. He said that those fixtures would be available soon.
The association teams will then compete against each other and from this tournament GFF officials would select the national team to compete in the Cayman Islands.
Consequently, Mr. France said that administrators are currently soliciting funding to offset the expenses related to the tournament and are beseeching the input of the corporate community.
