Dear Editor
We welcome the Opposition Parties decision to cut GPL subsidies. Mr. Brassington needs to get out of his ivory office and take a ride with his employees on one of their trucks beginning from Sophia and all the other areas to see how many of his “so-called” customers are stealing electricity.
His employees are in the same boat with the thieves. They collect money from the stealing customers to allow them to continue stealing electricity. Some customers pay as high as $50,000 to these men to not have their electricity disconnected. Some of his meter readers take a bribe from those who are already disconnected and aid them in the illegal hook-up.
If Mr. Brassington wants more money, he could recover a lot of his losses by seriously going after the thieves, some of these are known business men and women.
If a concerned customer tries to complain to GPL office employees, they are told to “mind their own business”, and in many cases the complaints fall on deaf ears, and nothing is done, while the stealing goes on.
How many persons have been prosecuted for stealing electricity since Mr. Brassington’s campaign began? The honest customers are penalized through higher billing to make up for the losses.
We, the honest customers are fed up with the double standards. What have you done Mr. Brassington to recover your losses from the electricity thieves?
Your very own employees are filling their pockets from this blatant scourge in our land. Concerned Customers
