A man who professes to be a taxi driver has been granted bail on a charge of robbery with aggravation. The accused, Goriah, of Lot 111 CC Eccles, East Bank Demerara made his appearance at the Providence Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Leslie Sobers.
It is alleged that on Wednesday October 10, last, at 13:55 hours at Toolsie Persaud Limited, Neil Cory was about to make a purchase. Before entering the store he stopped to talk to a truck driver. According to the police, Goriah and another man then ran up to Cory, physically assaulted him and took away a bag which contained some $120,000.
The two men then jumped into a car which was parked a short distance away. A report was made to the police and the accused was subsequently arrested and charged.
The accused was granted bail in the sum of $175.000.
