DEAR EDITOR,
On Sunday 2nd August, 2012, I listened to the debate on N.C.N. This being as I understand, the President’s pension and all the other benefits that goes with same and corruption.
There were three very experienced men arguing or trying to justify that the package is fully deserved and one indicating that the many benefits cannot be justified.
But what I am sure that thousands of other Guyanese would like to see is a debate on the topic of the minimum wages, and salaries that workers both skilled and unskilled are receiving and the pensions, both the National Insurance and the Old Age pensioners, are receiving currently.
Working on the sugar estate, the bauxite industry or any other place as a labourer for more than thirty-five years is also a significant contribution to the country’s development also.
This panel must of course include Mr. Nandlall our Attorney General, Mr. Gopaul our Labour Minister and Mr. Carvil Duncan, one of our most Senior Trade Unionists. Archie W. Cordis
