After leaving these shores four years ago to pursue a Business Degree in Business Administration at Fanshawe College in Ontario, Canada, former go-karting and Squash champion Kristian Jeffrey is carving a name for himself in motor racing circles after claiming the top accolade at the 2012 Brian Stewart Racing Karting Championships in the Land of the Maple Leaf.
Jeffrey, who dominated the local karting scene for quite a few years, before his departure has continued in the same vein, registering steady progress since his arrival and is now one of the top drivers on the circuit.

Karting champion Kristian Jeffrey holds the chequered flag following one of his victories in Canada.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport on Monday afternoon at the Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club, during a practice session, Jeffrey, who drives an F 125Icc Kart, said his outstanding performances has been noticed by fellow competitors and has allowed him to gain much respect.
The former Squash champion of Guyana, who has won multiple titles, starting from the Under-13 level, told this newspaper that he is hoping to maintain the progress made over the past year, adding that due to his impressive results there are a few options on the table that hopefully he could take advantage of.
Currently under the expert tutelage of the master Enzo Chiovitti of 3SRacing, Jeffrey said go-karting is a major sport in Canada that attracts a number of top drivers from Indy, NASCAR and Formula 1, who use karting as a means of staying fit, maintaining their dexterity and competitive edge.
Commenting on his performances since arriving in Canada, Jeffrey disclosed that over the past three years he had finishes of 5th, 2nd and this year his most memorable, placing first.
“I participated in five races this year namely Sutton where I finished 5th, while at Innisfil I ended 2nd and at Leamington I claimed the first spot. We then went on to Shannonville where I registered 2nd and 3rd place finishes to crown a wonderful Series,” Jeffrey revealed.
According to him, he collected bonus points for securing three pole positions which many described as remarkable.
He explained that the competition is extremely high, adding that even though there was a reduction in the amount of races due to a slump in the economy, karting is still very popular in the country.
Already exposed to racing against a number of top drivers, Jeffrey rated competing in Las Vegas as a very invigorating experience.
He said he is hoping to become a professional race car driver if given the opportunity, but cautioned that procuring sponsorship to get into the ‘big’ League is difficult.
Asked whether Guyanese fans at home will be getting an opportunity to see him anytime soon, Jeffrey would not commit, stating that our November Meet usually coincides with the Las Vegas tour and it will be difficult for him financially to attend both engagements unless a sponsor is identified.
Another aspiration of Jeffrey is to return to the Squash scene next year and perhaps represent Guyana on the regional circuit.
Kaieteur Sport extends best wishes to Jeffrey in his respective pursuits.
