Boxing to light up Linden’s Town week on Monday
Boxing will be heading to Linden at the McKenzie Bus Park on Monday 
April 30th when an Amateur Boxing Competition lights up the Park with 12 bouts which are scheduled on the card after Seon Bristol along with other boxers and sponsors poured in their assistance to host the event.
Steve Ninvalle, President of Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) who announced the venture, stated that it was the first such venture between Bristol and GABA and added that Bristol has always supported amateur boxing.
Ninvalle noted the reason for the competition to be staged in Linden was because the sport has not been seen in that area in Guyana for a quite a while, “Linden has not seen amateur boxing for quite a while and it’s also a part of our decentralizing plan for the sport.”
The President also highlighted that the decentralizing plan will be further aided after Minister of Sport, Frank Anthony donated a ring to the Association last year.
Bristol, in his brief remarks stated it was one of his greatest pleasure to assist with boxing since it is an Olympic year, knowing that four of our boxers will be vying to qualify the Olympics in May.
Elton ‘the Coolie Bully’ Dharry, who was once an amateur boxer, disclosed at the briefing that he was delighted to give his assistance to the card since it was the support he received as an amateur boxer that allowed him to become the better boxer (Professional boxer) he is today.
Sponsors of the card are: Princess International Hotel, Digicel, Allison Butters Grant, Tricina Sobers (Women across the borders), Mark Arthur, Sybil’s Bakery, Kevin Smith (Golden Grove Boxing Gym), Delta Airline and Lion Love Promotion.
Boxers apart of the venture: Kenny Bristol, Lennox Blackmore, Dillon Carew, Steve Frank, Raul Frank, Brian Mutter and Elton Dharry.
