Dear Minister,
We the Executive Members of the Essequibo Cricket Board, the Berbice Cricket Board, the East Coast Cricket Board and the Georgetown Cricket Association, hereby unequivocally state that we fully support the Interim Management Committee (IMC) for Guyana Cricket and further we pledge our fullest cooperation to the following processes:
1 A forensic audit of the finances of the Guyana Cricket Board;
2 The drafting of a legislative framework for Guyana Cricket;
3 The reform of the constitution of the Guyana Cricket Board;
4 The holding of free, fair and transparent elections of the Guyana Cricket Board.
We hereby reject any body holding themselves out or presenting themselves as the organizers or in any way responsible for the management of Cricket in Guyana.
Further, we deplore the action of those persons who have illegally transferred the assets of the Guyana Cricket Board to the private company – DEB Essential Organization Inc. We consider this action as criminal and expect that those who are guilty of this wrong doing will be made to face the full force of the law. We respectfully request that the Honourable Minister of Culture, Youth & Sports take appropriate action to recover those assets that rightfully belong to the stakeholders of cricket in Guyana. Further, we wish to state categorically that we never gave permission nor were we consulted on this transfer of assets.
Our commitment to the IMC is effectively an endorsement of the legal opinion given by the
Honourable Chief Justice, Mr. Ian Chang that an IMC could provide temporary relief to the troubles affecting cricket in Guyana until a more permanent solution is reached.
We hereby commit ourselves to provide any assistance to the IMC that would contribute to the urgent restoration of Guyana Cricket.
Yours sincerely,
Sheik Arif Ahmad
