– Training, capacity-building programs to be highlighted
After three years of activities in Guyana, the Canada-Guyana Partnership for Community Planning will hold its closing event and hand-over ceremony, on Tuesday at the CIDA Programme Support Unit, 56 Main and New Market Streets, Georgetown.
The project is a Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) funded partnership agreement between the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and Guyana’s Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA).
Attendees will hear about project accomplishments, lessons learned and future steps for both Canadian and Guyanese partners. Key acknowledgement speeches will be made by CH&PA senior staff, including Irfaan Ali, Minister of Housing and Water.
The Canada-Guyana Partnership for Community Planning (2009-2012) had as its principal objective the training of Guyanese Public Sector Professionals and Community leaders by means of training and capacity-building programmes designed and delivered by Canadian and Caribbean professional planners. The Partnership also supported annual regional meetings and community engagement projects to promote and enhance good planning practice throughout the Region. All project activities were delivered in the context of the preparation of Community Development Plans (CDPs).
