The Guyana National Sevens Team to participate in the HSBC World Series in Hong Kong will be announced shortly after a practice session and trial game which will be staged today, at the National Stadium, starting from 10:00 hrs.
This is according to a release from the Guyana Rugby Football Union who also disclosed that the team will depart on Monday, March 12, while the final trial game will be held on Saturday, March 10, at the National Stadium.
Following the team’s departure, they will be encamped in Chula Vista, San Diego, where they will be hosted by Rugby USA and undergo final tune-ups, before leaving for Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, overseas-based players, Ronald Mayers and Richard Staglon were expected to arrive in Guyana yesterday to join the team for its final practice, before departure.
Kevin Mc Kenzie, who is currently playing Rugby League in Brisbane, Australia, and Rupert Giles, presently at Loughborough University in England, will join the team in San Diego.
The team departs Chula Vista, San Diego, for Hong Kong on March 17.
