The Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) as it has done over the past four years has been preparing its teams way ahead of competitions being run by the National body. In this instance, the BCB’s Cellink Under-17 team for the upcoming Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) tournament has maintained that trend.
Hundreds of players in the past months have been sharpening their skills whilst competing in the Amerally Sawmill (Memorex) and Republic Bank Inter Zone Under-17 competitions.
The BCB Junior Selection Committee headed by Leslie Solomon, which also includes Moses Samlall, Patrick Lewis and Randolph Latcha met on Wednesday last and named the Berbice team which would now be involved in another Junior Elite Programme until the GCB tournament commences.
The 15-members named: Shimron Hetmyer, Quacy McPherson, Nicholas Cameron, Arif Chan, Sharaz Ramcharran, Shailendra Shameer, Viendra Gooniah, Daniel Lewis, Derek Narine, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Hakeem Hinds (wicket-keeper), Suresh Dhanai, Nick Ramsaroop, Nial Smith and Grisean Grant.
The Stand-bys are, Wagar McKenzie, Madan Boodram, Joseph Giddings, Bryan Nurse and Devin Baldeo. Orvin Mangru of Albion is the Manager and Andre Percival, Coach.
BCB Public Relations Officer Hilbert Foster stated that the team will undergo a series of training and coaching sessions as well as physical fitness programmes.
