Tenders for sea and river defence projects, estimated at over $500M, were opened Tuesday with critical areas like Belle Vue, West Bank Demerara, and of Leguan and Wakenaam islands slated for repairs.
The bids were opened at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), Ministry of Finance, on Main Street. The projects were all for works under the Ministry of Public Works.
At Hampton Court, Essequibo, rip-rap stone works are to be done on over 250 metres of sea defense with the Ministry estimating that it will cost $116,240,600. The bids opened were:
