The Sans Souci Jaguars Sports Club cricket Academy concluded last Friday in Wakenaam with 35 participants.
Coach Nandkishore Andrews said they were impressed with the interest shown by the youngsters during the five day programme.
He told Kaieteur sport that this was the first Academy organised by the club and they will look to continue doing so in the future.
During the Academy students were thought the basics of cricket which included batting, bowling, fielding and wicketkeeping, while there were also class room sessions on topics such as Nutrition, Healthy life style, drug abuse, table etiquette, importance of discipline and Education and the laws of cricket.
Andrews who is also an executive member of the SSJSC called on other clubs to organise similar ventures.

Coach Zaheer Mohamed, who is the Secretary of the club, told the participants to continue training and take the game seriously as well as their education, he also told the students that apart from being cricketers they can become coaches, managers, scorers, umpires and journalists.
The club would like to thank; Nazrudeen Mohamed General store, Tularam Ramkissoon General Store, the Wakenaam N.D.C, the Maria’s Pleasure Sports Club, Nandkishore Jairam General store as well as Molly Spellen, Carmen Hill, Dilip Persaud, retired Head Mistress Linda Woolford, former school teachers Joan Prince and Aftab Zahoor for their assistance.
The Academy was attended by male and female cricketers from ages 9 – 17.
