Top scrabble players in action today
Local scrabble players are scheduled to match wits once again when the Guyana Association of Scrabble Players (GASP) stages an open Scrabble competition this morning in the pavilion of the Malteenoes Sports Club, Thomas lands.
Once again the battle for honours will resume among the top seeds and picking a winner will once again be a tedious task. Expect stiff challenges from Moen Gafoor, Colin Chichester, James Krakowsky and Ewart Adams among others. On the distaff side, one dare not eliminate national champion Abigail McDonald, Yvonne Murray, Grace Hercules or Ruby Cummings from the top podium spots as these females have held their own among the males. A tough competition is, therefore, envisaged.
Participants are advised to be at the venue by 09:45hrs for registration and a prompt start at 10:00hrs sharp. The rules in relation to lateness will be enforced.
As is customary, the first three finishers will be awarded lucrative prizes donated by corporate Guyana.
