The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) has collaborated with business entity DeSinco Trading to stage the DeSinco 25 overs under-13 cricket competition which involves six teams from five clubs in the City.
According to GCA Vice-President Neil Barry, players must be 13 years old or not younger than 10 by December 31, 2011 to be eligible to participate.
Barry, a former Guyana First-Class batsman said that Malteenoes, GCC, DCC, Everest, GYO ‘A’ and GYO ‘B’ will compete in the one week competition which has been organized as a championship and training programme during the August holidays for the pre-teens and will be played with the Pee-Wee Little League rules.
Matches will be played at the GYO, MYO and GNIC grounds and start at 09:30hrs with the first round set for Monday, August 15 after an Opening Ceremony for all the participating teams is held at GYO next Sunday.
The clubs involved are presently looking for players and parents or guardians are asked to register their charges with any of the five clubs which will begin practice sessions this week.
It was disclosed that at the end of every match a resource person will talk to the players about various aspects of cricket and social skills.
