Umpires Duncan to be laid to rest on Sunday
Overseas Umpires coming for funeral

The body of the late International Cricket Umpire Guyanese Clyde Duncan will be laid to rest on Sunday August 7 after a public viewing of his body from 09:00hrs to 10:00hrs at the GCC ground Bourda where he stood in his only two Test matches in 1991 and 1994.
The 57-year-old Duncan, who lost his battle with Cancer, stood in the last of his 21 ODIs last year in Antigua when West Indies played South Africa and a contingent of West Indian Umpires and an ICC Umpire’s representative are expected in Guyana for his funeral.
New West Indies Cricket Umpires Association (WICUA) President Cecil Fletcher and ICC Umpire Billy Doctrove are also expected to attend. Senior Cricket Operations Officer Roland Holder will represent the WICB.
The Cricket Umpires and Scorers Associations of Demerara and Georgetown will sponsor a night of reflection at Duncan’s wake tomorrow from 19:00hrs at Duncan’s residence 16 Vreed-in-Hoop, West Demerara.
All Scorers, Umpires and Friends are asked to attend and persons will be allowed to reflect on their association with Duncan during his life time.
Duncan’s body will also be viewed at his home on Sunday before a funeral service at the Vreed-in Hoop Wesleyan Church at 13:30hrs.
At the Church, tributes will be done by Guyana’s Director of Sports Neil Kumar, a reprehensive of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), a representative of the Guyana Cricket Umpires Council (GCUC), President of the Demerara and Georgetown Cricket Umpires and Scorers Associations Grantley Culbard, Doctrove and Holder.
Persons attending the funeral service are reminded that the Demerara Harbour Bridge will be closed for one and a half hours from 11:00hrs on Sunday.
A member of the teaching profession in Guyana, the late Duncan leaves to morn his wife Fay and children Dr. Tracey Duncan-Clarke, Joanna, Troy and Susanna and hundreds in the Guyana and Caribbean cricket fraternity.
