Queenstown A are Essequibo champs; GFC & Plaisance win

Queenstown A defeated Henrietta A yesterday afternoon at the Hampton Court Ground to win the Essequibo leg of the inaugural GT&T FastBall knock-out football competition.
The clash between the two best teams in the Cinderella County turned out to be a humdinger despite the Queenstown prevailing 2-0; Rensford Walcott in the 12th and Sherwin Hubbard in the 17th minute were the goal scorers.
Henrietta, have only themselves to blame having missed two golden opportunities to draw level and even win the game.
They {Henrietta} missed penalties in the 14th and 30th minute respectively.
In the first set of matches that have been played at the Plaisance Community Centre Ground yesterday afternoon, Outsider FC thumped Mahaica Determinators 5-1; Buxton All Stars B shone in all its glory overpowering Positive Vibes 8-0.
For Outsiders FC Kevin Williams opened the scoring in the 2nd minute and his effort was emulated by Christopher Deonarine on the stroke of half time with a 6 second penalty to restore their advantage going into the break after Mahaica Determinators had equalized through Johnson Jack in the 11th minute.
The second half saw an all out attack by Outsider FC which yielded two more goals, Anthony Ifill in the 25th and Pernell Providence one minute later. Outsider won another penalty on the stroke of full time but Determinators walked off the field of play and refused to allow the kick to be taken.
Buxton All Stars B got shooting practice ahead of their next game in their clash with Positive Vibes. Buxton got their goals from Treon Abrams (2), a brace each from Troy Miller (4, 24) and Anthony Sullivan (11, 18), Andel Garrett (19) and Suile Valentine in the 20th minute.
EAST BANK DEMERARA
Up at the Grove Community Centre Ground on Sunday afternoon, three more teams notched up victories.
Home team Grove clipped the wings of Harpy Eagles taking the win on penalty kicks 1-0 after a 2-2 deadlock at the end of regulation time. Travis Jones saved the day for Grove with a blue ball goal in the penultimate minute of the game as they were trailing 2-0 since the 5th minute when Kester Lowe drilled one past the goalkeeper; Sherwin Miller had opened the scoring in the first minute of the game.
Johnny Nice continued their winning form from Saturday as they tamed Kuru Kuru Lions 5-0. Devon Tullock (3), Kacy John (6, 27) and Ajoni Hinds in the 30th were the players leading Johnny Nice to victory.
Timehri Ballers were 2-0 winners over Kuru Kuru Warriors, Marvin Blair scored with the blue ball in the 29th minute.
Mocha Arcadia All Stars shone in their game against Diamond Invaders emerging as 2-0 victors compliments of a Llyton Ramsey blue ball double in the final minute of the game. Harpy Eagles did taste victory on the day when they got past Eccles United 1-0 on penalty kicks. When regulation time expired the score was tied at 2; Travis Pollard (2) and Sherwin Miller netting for the Eagles while Javon Crawford converted for Eccles in the 13th minute.
GEORGETOWN
At the Georgetown Football Club Ground on Sunday evening, Prestige Barber Shop upset a star studded Mojo’s 1-0 on penalty kicks, Black Lightening were too quick for North Ruimveldt Giants in their 4-2 triumph, YMCA B knocked out Cartoon Network 3-1, Western Tigers roared to a convincing 4-0 win over Red Range, while Draggers squeezed into the next round on account of their nerve racking 4-3 win over Hadfield Street United.
For Draggers, Devon Benjamin scored all their goals in the 6th, 11th and 30th minute and for Hadfield Street, Kevon Henry (9), Travis Eastman (24) and Colin Seaforth 25th were the players on target.
During regulation time in the Mojo’s / Prestige Barber Shop contest, the former had to battle back from being two goals down to level the scores but still lost on penalty kicks. Kevin O’Selmo (17) and Shemroy Arthur (21) answered back to goals that were scored for the Barber Shop by Quincy Boyce in the 14th minute (blue ball).
YMCA in their easy 3-1 win over Cartoon Network got their goals from Paul Rodrigues (24) and Aubrey Thomas (30). Cartoon Network’s consolation effort was scored by Wellington Patrick in the 21st minute.
Leading Western Tigers to victory were Travis Patrick (15) and Randolph Wagner (29) both blue ball efforts.
And for Black Lightening Richard Aaron accounted for 3 goals (25, 30) with the other tucked in by Dellon Peters. North Ruimveldt Giants got their strikes from Andre Braithwaite (12) and Steffon Walton in the 23rd minute.
WEST DEMERARA
The two remaining quarterfinal matches will be contested this afternoon from 16:00hrs at the Den Amstel Community Centre Ground. Beavers will be up against West Side All Stars while Den Amstel will oppose Squatters Gunners United. The respective winners today will join West Demerara United and Uitvlugt Image which have already advanced to the semifinals set for Saturday at the same venue. The area final will also be contested on Saturday.
