Greene earns pro card after INBF wins
– Officially hangs up running shoes
Former national sprint champion turned bodybuilder, Rawle Greene, who is now a resident of the United States of America, flexed his way to a professional card last weekend with a dominant act at an International Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness (INBF) contest. Greene topped the middleweight category of the competition and went on to take the overall title of INBF Mr. America after top performances in four other categories at Martin Luther King High School in New York where Greene has been residing since migrating.
“I now have a pro card and that feels great. It means that I will now be able to compete among all the big boys in the sport. I have a show in September and I am already working hard to get where I need to be for that,” Greene told Kaieteur Sport yesterday.
The former multiple national title holder in athletics became a prominent bodybuilder in Guyana after he seriously considered his exit from track and field about three years ago. He was a fitness trainer at the Buddy’s Gym before migrating sometime last year.
Asked if he has officially hung up his running shoes, Greene said “you could say so”, adding that he has to focus on his professional bodybuilding career to get the desired results. Greene now has the access to compete among the best bodybuilders in the world.
