England based Guyanese Coach Peter Barry, the former Santos FC player and administrator is throwing his support behind the incumbent Guyana Football Federation President Colin Klass to retain the top office in the land at the upcoming Annual General Meeting this month end.
Barry, who now runs his own Football Academy and was recently honoured by the Mayor of Croydon, Her Worship Arvil Slipper for his work with youths, stated that in no country everything is perfect even in England they have their own challenges.
“But taking into account that the current administration of football in Guyana have moved the game forward which has resulted in our improvement and constant climb in the FIFA Coca Cola Rankings, this is a big achievement in itself. Guyana’s football has come a long way and there is a lot of support that has been acquired here in England from both Guyanese and non Guyanese.”
Barry stated that Guyana’s football will benefit in a big way with local players and coaches being given the opportunity to enhance their football endeavours.
He said that currently, himself and English Coach Nicolas Bolt have already began the process of scouting for Guyanese talent in Europe to represent Guyana in future International matches. Barry also notes that under the current administration a lot has been achieved.
“As an administrator it is not easy, but very easy to talk. I am very confident however, that with the current administration and the support around the Globe, Guyana’s football will prosper.” Barry informed that he will be coming home voluntary to help Coaches, clubs and also scout local talent for England.
“I would like to appeal to all the Associations to have an in-depth look at the candidate’s track record before they cast their vote.”
