Warren McKay turned in a good ride to win the Tropical Rhythms road race sponsored by Ansa McAl on Sunday on the East Coast of Demerara, starting and finishing at the BV Headquarters of the sponsors. McKay powered ahead of Alonzo Greaves, Eric Sankar, Walter Grant-Stewart, Darren Allen and Ian Jackson in that order in the senior category. Of the sprint prizes on offer; McKay got 2, Greaves, Sankar and Allen had 1 each, while Grant-Stewart grabbed 4.
The win would have done well for McKay’s confidence and preparation ahead of next weekend’s Annual 3-stage event.
Among the Juniors Paul DeNobreiga beat Kurt La Rose and Devanand Bissoon, while for the Veterans – Kennard Lovell (1 sprint prize) won in front of Talim Shaw and Linden Blackman respectively.
Special Prizes were given to lone female Naiomi Singh and Monty Parris, the Oldest Cyclist to finish race.
