– Mark’s Interior Communications also on board
Wartsila Operations Guyana Inc. ensured that its power lines for the President’s/Jefford Track and Field Classic II were secured yesterday when the company revealed its support for the event for the second consecutive year.
Contracts Manager at the Company, Arron Fraser said that he was inclined to support the event because it is one with a difference. He said that as a former athlete, one of his passions has been quality athletics and the event offers that.
“We are supporting this event, which is confirmation of our social obligation and as a former athlete,” Fraser said, before adding that he hopes that the event is the stepping stone for the further development of track and field. Coordinator of the event, Edison Jefford, thanked Wartsila for their contribution and was optimistic that the athletics event will fulfil the expectations of the company. He said that high standards will continue at the Second Edition of the event.
Meanwhile, Proprietor of Mark’s Interior Communications, Mark Grimmond in another display of corporate responsibility, formally disclosed his sponsorship for the upcoming President’s/Jefford Track and Field Classic.
The entity which is known to be an ardent supporter of sports in Guyana, once again demonstrated its commitment to the development of youths within communities.
According to Grimmond, he usually contributes to sport disciplines, especially football, but has been known to also support athletics with his most recent generosity extended to athletes from the Rupununi.
Jefford, who is also a media operative, in his response, stated that his initial interaction with Grimmond was through coverage of his known support for sports and he always felt that Grimmond was supporting the development of sports.
In supporting the development of the sport, Jefford said that Mark’s Interior Communications was also supporting the positive progression of youths. “Just recently Mark offered support for the Hinterland athletes who came to Georgetown to compete in the South American 10K race and it was during that short interaction that we talked about support for the upcoming Classic,” Jefford said. Jefford disclosed that even though Grimmond preferred to do things with limited publicity, he has always been someone that is extremely supportive of the development of positive ideas among youths.
He related the gesture by Grimmond is another example of his grassroots support for sports.
