Friendly rivalry between the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and the Albion Cricket Club would be renewed on Sunday at the Area ‘H’ Ground when the two teams clash in the final of the 2010 Spready’s Bakery Under-19, 50 overs cricket tournament, organised by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB).
A game of premier standard is anticipated as both teams appear to be evenly matched with several promising future Berbice cricket stars set to ignite on the day.
The home team, Rose Hall Town Pepsi (RHTP) would be seeking a hat-trick of Under-19 titles but Albion would be determined to halt their progress towards such a feat.
RHTP challenge would be led by national Under-19 opener Dominic Rikhi with support in the batting department from Trevor Thomas, Parmanand Narine, Shawn Pereira, Kelon Sinclair, Hemchand Kalloo, West Indies female player Shemaine Campbelle and the exciting Vidal Crandon.
The bowling attack centers around pacers Jamal Jarvis, George Hughes, national Under-15 leg spinner Shawn Pereira, off spinners Rikhi, Narine, Lewis and Lenny Sanichar.
National Under-19 player Harrinarine Chattergoon will be at the helm of the talented Albion team and will be find able support from the exciting Kandasammy Surujnarine, Sharaz Ramcharran, Veerapen Permaul, Andy Mohan, Shauraz Khan and David Latchya in a strong batting line up. The visitors’ bowling attack is spin biased and would be led by off spinner Chattergoon and national Under-15 left arm spinner Gudakesh Motie. Potent back up will come from off spinner Permaul, the younger brother of West Indies ‘A’ player Veerasammy Permaul, Avinash Wajid, Latchya and Ramcharran who are all capable spinners.
The winning team will be rewarded with $40,000 and trophy with the runner-up collecting $30,000. Also being rewarded is the man-of-the-finals.
Nazimul Fudadin of Spready’s Bakery is expected to meet the teams before the commencement of the final and assist with the presentation of prizes after the conclusion.
The standing umpires are Imran Moakan and Shawn Coonjah with Roshan Moakan as stand by. Game time is 09:30hrs.
