Arrival Cup Twenty20 cricket set for Albion on May 1

This year, the third annual Arrival Cup Twenty20 cricket competition will be bigger and better than previous years, organisers have disclosed. It was revealed that for the first time, senior Association teams instead of youth teams will be vying for over $300,000 in prize money up for grabs.
Chairman of the Arrival Cup Management Committee Abal Seetaram informed at a press conference held at Demerara Cricket Club yesterday that teams representing Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA), East Coast Demerara Carib Jaguars, East Berbice Titans and West Berbice Super Kings will clash in a one-day knock-out tournament on May 1 at the Albion Community Centre Ground.
The first semi-final is scheduled to commence at 09:00hrs and the competition is being sponsored by Annjee’s, dealers in Sarees, Salwars, Lenga Suits and other Indian musical instruments, furniture, handicrafts and cricket gear.
Tickets cost $500 and $1,000 for the pavilion while children under 12 will be admitted free. It was disclosed that the admission at the gate will be more than the ticket price.
The Organisers said that while the four Associations have already confirmed participation, the teams will not be announced until next week.
Leana Bradshaw, the Public Relations Officer in Georgetown explained that tickets will be sold from Wednesday in Georgetown and Berbice.
