Linden Foundation and Harmony Secondary Schools were the latest teams to register victories when this year’s Edward ‘Screw’ Richmond Memorial Schools Football Competition resumed last Thursday in the Linden Community.
Linden Foundation Secondary defeated Mackenzie High School 2-1 through goals from Jamal Croal (18th) and Massiah Joseph (34th), while Beneakman Smartt (52nd) made the lone response for the losers.This was Linden Foundation first ever win over Mackenzie High School in the competition’s history.
In the second encounter, Linden School of Excellence went down to Harmony Secondary School by a 1-0 margin with Joshaun Freeman’s 55th minute strike, being the decisive factor between the two teams.
The tournament is set to continue on Tuesday with another double header featuring New Silver City Secondary versus Harmony Secondary in a clash of unbeaten teams, while Marcia Craig Educational Institute and Linden Foundation Secondary do battle in the other game.
The preliminary rounds is being run on a round robin basis with the top two teams from each group moving on to the semi-final phase.
