Dear Editor,
Following several revised deadlines for the long awaited Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation to be tabled in the National Assembly, it appears that interested stakeholders will have to wait awhile longer.
Several PPP officials including Head of State Bharrat Jagdeo have said that the FIO laws would be tabled in the House by August 2010, then they change their mouths to October 2010, then they changed their mouths to before the end of 2010, then they got the Hon. Prime Minister to commit to the end of January 2011 in writing to the Speaker of the House.
The fact, even their written word is not worth its weight as they dishonor the Office of the Speaker of the National Assembly. What kind of people are these? Why are the people being treated like collateral as if the PPP got transport over them?
In August 2010, the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) General Secretary Donald Ramotar said that it is not because of any lack of political will that his party did not pass the FOI laws but they will pass it before the end of the 2010. Well it is March 2011, now and what does he say today.
Why all these lies from the PPP and the Jagdeo Administration? What is there to hide?
Thanks to Kaieteur News and SN, we the people are being educated about all the unfair and dishonest practices being carried out in a secretive manner by the PPP Government. We read about the Drainage and Irrgation works, we read about the over priced computers, we read about the sweat heart deals for their business buddies, we read about how they cheat the sugar workers, we read about how some people building $100 million house in Pradoville, when 10 years ago they were riding bicycles. We are making note of the wholesale theft of our money.
Long time gone, short time left.
