More cycle racing set for Sunday on the West Demerara
National Cycling Coach, Hassan Mohamed MS has organized the 3rd Annual Cheddi Jagan Memorial 50 Miles Cycle Road Race for Sunday March 13.
The race will commence from Wales Police Station at 09:00hrs; proceed to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo before returning to Demerara Harbour Bridge for the finish.
The Veteran and Upright Cyclists will turn back at Uitvlugt Community Centre to finish at the Harbour Bridge.
The first (6) finishers will receive prizes, the first (3) Juniors, (3) Veteran will also receive prizes, special prizes will be awarded to the first (2) female and first (2) Veteran O- 60 yrs.
Eight Prime Prizes to be won during the course of the race. The race is sponsored by Sara Johanna Garden and Friendship Mews. Manager/Director, Mr. Fazil Ramzan is expected to start the race and distribute the prizes to the winning participants.
Last year’s event was won by Raymond Newton – 2hr/03Mins/43Secs, while the Junior winners was Neil Reece, Veteran – Virgil Jones, Veteran O- 60yrs – Anthony Fariah, Upright – Jude Bentley and Female – Naiomi Singh.
