Schools coaching programme underway
Lethem Wilson is the new President of the Linden Table Tennis Association (LTTA) following a meeting on Monday held at the Senior Supervisor’s Club in the Bauxite Mining Town.
Vice President is Howard James with Sports Journalist Joe Chapman as Secretary; Robert Langevine Treasurer, Christian Sampson will serve as Assistant Secretary/Treasurer while Judy Gravesande-Noel is the Public Relations Officer with her assistant being Raynor Anderson.
Already, the LTTA has begun a training programme for selected schools with Coaches Anderson and James in charge.
President of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), Commissioner of Police Henry Green DSM, had charged that associations be formed around the country to help promote the sport.
The LTTA has now become functional in Linden after some years of dormancy and immediately a coaching programme for selected schools in the first instance, has been put in place.
To boost this initiative Commander of the E and F Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police David Ramnarine along with two Linden businessmen, Beresford Harry and Dunstan Barrow, have bought tables which will be used for the training programme.
Raynor Anderson will be conducting clinics between 14:15hrs and 16:15hrs on Mondays at the Linden Technical Institute (Trade School), Tuesdays at the Multilateral School (Christiansburg Secondary School), Wednesdays at School of Excellence, Thursdays at Mackenzie High School and Fridays at the Scouts Senior Supervisors Club.
Howard James will take students through the paces from 14:15hrs to 16:15hrs on Wednesdays at Linden Foundation Secondary, Thursdays at New Silver City Secondary School and Fridays at Beresford Hall (Wismar).
There will also be weekend clinics at the Linmine Constabulary Hall on Sunday March 6 and Sunday March 13.
