A Goodwill football tournament will be staged at Mahdia this weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which is aimed at resuscitating the sport in that community.
Organised by V and M Promotions, the tournament will see a Georgetown All Star team being part of the action which will also feature area teams RH Lions, Rainbow City, Campbelltown and neighbouring side Mowsie All Star.
Attractive cash prizes along with trophies are on offer with the winner carting off $200,000 compliments of Macorp, second prize is $100,000 put up by Roger Hinds Hotel and Mini Mart, third $60,000 donated by Macorp and fourth prize of $40,000 sponsored by Digicel.
Parliamentary Secretary in the Sports Ministry, Steve Ninvalle, has been tasked with declaring the event open and presenting the prizes after the organisers requested the ministry send a representative to be part of the formalities at the event.
