The W.I.C.B in collaboration with Guyana Cricket Board and Scotiabank launches its 2011 Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket programme at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) pavilion from 10:00hrs today.
Approximately 250 primary schools from across the country will participate in various Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket activities consisting of the following:
Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Mascot Competition – Jan. 1 to Feb. 18, 2011. This competition is open to pupils ages 7-12 and the Introduction to cricket coaching for teachers/volunteers and pre-tournament practice sessions within Schools (conducted by G.C.B Coaches) in February.
The Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Festival (tournament) is set for February and March while the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket lunch-time display for qualifying schools during the 1st Digicel Test Match between West Indies and Pakistan at Guyana National Stadium, Providence is on May 14 & 15, 2011.
The Scotiabank Kiddy cricket “Easter vacation Clinic” Demerara, Essequibo and Berbice will cater for a selected group of players. These players are to be identified by Coaches based on the Coach’s assessment and evaluation of the players’ ability displayed during training sessions
and/or competition.
The 14 Zone winners will exhibit their cricketing prowess during the lunch break of the first Digicel Test Match between the West Indies and Pakistan at Guyana National Stadium – Providence.

It should be noted that W.I.C.B has made a strategic decision to include Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Programme into the W.I.C.B grassroots development programme to provide the foundation and support for the development of West Indies cricket which is critical to returning West Indies to the pinnacle of world cricket.
