Twenty-nine year old Mahendra Prashad is currently in the Male Ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after sustaining serious injuries about his body after being involved in a motor vehicular accident on Monday night.
When Kaieteur News visited the young man yesterday, he explained that around 22:00hrs on Monday he was riding his motorcycle and his brother-in-law was the pillion rider. The man said they were going to purchase water when he came to a halt at the traffic light located in the vicinity of the East La Penitence Police Station.
Prashad said as he pulled off, heading south, he saw a motorcar in the opposite direction “jump the stop light” and swiftly turn in his direction.After that, all he remembers is waking up in the GPHC ward.
Kaieteur News was told that he arrived in an unconscious state at the hospital and when he finally gained consciousness, the nurse on duty told him that he suffered a broken left arm and a broken left leg. Prashad also complained of severe pains in his chest when trying to breathe.
He also had deep cuts and bruises along his face and above his left eye. His brother in-law, who is also in the same ward escaped with minor injuries.
This newspaper understands that the driver of the motorcar is currently in police custody.
