Dear Editor,
Freddie Kissoon often exposes himself as a contrarian of his own thinking. His article, “Is the PNC dead?” (December 8) in referring to the PNCR implementing a new system where the leader of the party and its presidential nominee are different, he says, “What is bizarre is why a party leader would not want to contest national elections.”
It is moments like these Kissoon expose his personality and penchant to twist a story to fit his conclusion.
As Kissoon uses this argument to push his long held hate of the PNCR and in alluding to an impending death, he deliberately ignores three important truths happening right before his eyes. 1) Donald Ramotar is the Leader of the PPP, but was never the party’s presidential candidate. 2) Raphael Trotman is the Leader of the AFC but will not be its presidential candidate. And 3) the PNC constitution allows for the separation of the Leader and presidential candidate.
One would have thought that Kissoon, the political scientist, would have examined these facts and include them in his analysis before coming to his conclusion.
You see, he could not, because had he done so it would affect the outcome of his thesis of the dying PNCR.
Interestingly enough he seems not to be discomfited that his illogical writing would expose him; so confident is he that people will treat his writings as gospels and not read him critically. Gary Drakes
