Please help the GT&T pensioners, President Jagdeo

Dear Sir,
I was delighted, and must give some kudos, to His Excellency President Bharrat Jagdeo for the way in which he handled the Barama workers’ plight after they were let go by the Company following the recent mishap at the East Bank Plant.
However, I remain aghast at the fact that this December, it will be six years and five months since dozens of pensioners who had worked with the former Guyana Telephone Company/Guyana Telecommunication Corporation, remain at the same level of pension for the last two decades.
Some are poor, retired, desperate, downtrodden and even deceased. Except for the latter, the State could have solved their problem.
Members of this group have petitioned several high ranking members of state, including President Jagdeo, Cabinet Secretary Mr. Roger Luncheon and Privatization Mr. Head Winston Brassington, to no avail.
They had been promised an audience with His Excellency long before the UNASUR Summit, the Climate Change talks and other important regional and world events. It is our sincere hope that the President would find just 30 minutes to meet with the aggrieved former workers when he returns from Cancun.
This matter is a very simple one and can easily be resolved like Barama’s. All the pensioners need is a very brief session with the President. A deal can easily be reached.
